# Uninstalling and reinstalling

What happens to your backups, running jobs and plan when you uninstall or reinstall Backup & Restore Tipo.

You can remove Backup & Restore Tipo at any time. This page explains what happens to your data and how to come back.

## Before you uninstall

Download any backups you want to keep. Once the app is removed, you cannot open it to download them later unless you reinstall in time.

### Wait for running jobs to finish

Open **Home** and check that no backup or restore is running. Uninstalling stops them.

### Download what you need

Open **Backups**, choose a backup and download it. See [Download a backup](/backup-and-restore-tipo/backups/backups/download/export-a-backup.md).

### Uninstall the app

In your Shopify admin, go to **Settings > Apps**, find Backup & Restore Tipo and uninstall it.

## What happens when you uninstall

Right away:

* Your paid plan charge is cancelled.
* Any backup that is running is cancelled.
* Any restore that is running stops and is marked as failed with the message "The app was uninstalled while this restore was running."
* All your backups are scheduled for deletion in 7 days.

Then:

| When                    | What happens                                                                              |
| ----------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 7 days after uninstall  | Your backups and their stored files are permanently deleted.                              |
| 30 days after uninstall | Your store record, including your settings, is deleted. Nothing is kept longer than this. |

## If you reinstall within 7 days

Your backups come back. The app clears their scheduled deletion, so you can browse, compare, download and restore them again.

* Your plan returns to **Free**. Pick a paid plan again on the plans page if you want one.
* A free trial is offered once per store. If you already used it, you will not get a second trial.

## If you reinstall later

After 7 days your backups are deleted and cannot be recovered. A reinstall starts with no backups, and the app asks you to set up again. After 30 days the store record is gone too, so it is a completely fresh install.
