# What we back up

See exactly what each data type includes, whether it can be restored, and what no backup app can capture.

This page lists every data type that Backup & Restore Tipo backs up, what is included, and whether you can restore it. You turn each row on or off in [Choose what to back up](/backup-and-restore-tipo/settings/settings/what-we-back-up.md). All rows are on by default.

{% hint style="info" %}
Data you can't restore is still backed up. You can browse it, compare it and download it. See [Download your data](/backup-and-restore-tipo/backups/backups/download.md).

## Translations

Translations are saved together with the content they belong to. This covers products, collections, pages, blogs, blog posts, menus and store policies. When you restore a type that can be restored, its translations are written after the main content. Policies can't be restored, so their translations can't be either.

## What is not backed up

* **Gift card codes.** Shopify masks gift card codes, so the app can only keep the last four characters. That is not enough to recreate a gift card.
* **Data that other apps keep on their own servers.** If an app stores its data outside your Shopify data, no backup app can reach it, including this one.
* **Passwords and payment details.** These are never restored, because Shopify does not allow apps to write them.

## What happens when you turn a row off

The row stays visible on Home but is greyed out and marked **Not included**. New backups skip it. Backups you already have keep the data they saved. If you turn every row off, you can't start a backup.
