# Download and export problems

Fix exports that will not start and download links that no longer work.

Use this page when you cannot export a backup, when an export fails, or when a download link stops working.

## Problems on the Export backup page

You reach this page from the **Backups** list by selecting **Download** next to a backup. To open the list, go to **Home** and select **Restore from a backup** on the **Store data** card.

### "This backup can't be exported yet"

Only completed backups can be exported. The message tells you the current status. Wait until the backup shows **Completed** or **Completed with warnings**, then try again. A backup with the status **Failed** cannot be exported.

### "An export is already running for this store. Try again once it finishes."

Only one export runs at a time for your store. Wait for the first export to finish. You will get an email when it is ready, and you can leave the page in the meantime.

### "The export failed. You can try again."

Select **Export** again. If it fails a second time, [contact support](/backup-and-restore-tipo/help/contact-support.md) and tell us the backup date.

### "This backup is past your plan's retention window and can no longer be exported."

The backup is older than your plan keeps backups. Export a newer backup instead. To keep backups longer, see [Compare plans](/backup-and-restore-tipo/plans-and-billing/plans/compare-plans.md).

### "Something went wrong. Please try again."

A general message. Wait a minute and try again.

### "No notification email configured"

You can still download. When the export is ready, select **Get download link** on the same page. To receive the link by email in future, add an address under **Settings** > **Notifications** > **Send to** before you start the export. The email address is read when you start the export. If you add it afterwards, that export will not be emailed.

### "Couldn't create a download link. Try again."

Select **Get download link** again. Each click creates a fresh link.

## Problems on the download page

When you open a link from an email, a download page opens in your browser. If it shows one of these headings:

| Heading                       | What it means                                       | What to do                                                                                 |
| ----------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Download link expired**     | The link is no longer available.                    | Start a new export from the **Backups** list in the app.                                   |
| **Download limit reached**    | The link has been used the maximum number of times. | Start a new export, or select **Get download link** on a finished export for a fresh link. |
| **Download link unavailable** | The link has been turned off.                       | Start a new export from the **Backups** list.                                              |
| **Backup unavailable**        | The file is no longer available for download.       | Start a new export from the **Backups** list.                                              |
| **Download link invalid**     | The link is not correct.                            | Open the link again from the email, or start a new export.                                 |

Select **Download Backup** once and wait. Clicking again uses another of your allowed downloads.

## Inventory CSV

If you see "An inventory CSV export is already running for this store. You'll get an email when it finishes.", wait for that email. Then start the next one. See [Export inventory as CSV](/backup-and-restore-tipo/backups/backups/download/export-inventory-csv.md).
