# Allow late payments from winners
By default, auction winners are expected to complete checkout within the configured checkout deadline.
The **Allow late payments from winners** option lets you decide whether winners can still complete payment after that deadline has passed.
### ⚙️ How to Configure
1. Open the app > click **Settings** > **General**
2. Locate the **Winners** section > enable **Allow late payments from winners**
3. Click **Save**

### ✅ How it work
When **Allow late payments from winners** is enabled:
* Winners can complete checkout even after the checkout deadline has passed.
* The winner keeps access to checkout until payment is completed.
* The auction item is not reassigned to another bidder.
* Automatic winner reassignment settings are hidden.
This option is ideal when you want to give customers additional flexibility to complete their purchase.

### 💡 Example: Late Payments Allowed
**Auction Result**
* Winning bidder: John
* Winning bid: $500
The auction ends on Monday at 10:00 AM.
John receives a winner notification but does not complete payment immediately.
Three days later, John returns to the store and completes checkout.
Because **Allow late payments from winners** is enabled:
* John still has access to checkout.
* The item remains reserved for John.
* The auction is not reassigned to another bidder.
* John can complete payment at any time until the purchase is completed.

Result
Allow late payments = ON
No checkout deadline. Winner can pay later.
Allow late payments = OFF
Checkout deadline applies. Winner must pay before the deadline expires.
