Inventory calculation rules for Master Products

When syncing inventory in Tipo Sync, the Master Product inventory is automatically calculated based on the available quantities of its component products in the same location.

The Core Rule: The Limiting Factor

The available stock for your bundle is limited by the component you have the least of, relative to the amount required for one bundle.

Tipo Sync determines this by checking: How many full bundles can be made from each component's stock? The lowest number calculated is the inventory for the final product.

Example: The Premium Home Cocktail Kit

We want to know how many Premium Home Cocktail Kits (KIT-C-001) we can sell based on the components we have in stock.

In the Tipo Sync app, you first define the components and the exact quantity required to build one kit. This is the recipe that Tipo Sync uses for the calculation.

  • Cocktail Glasses (Set of 2) (GLAS-SET): You set the requirement to 2 units.

  • Imported Specialty Syrup (SYR-IMP): You set the requirement to 3 bottles.

Current Stock Levels:

  • Cocktail Glasses (GLAS-SET): 120 units in stock.

  • Imported Specialty Syrup (SYR-IMP): 100 units in stock.

Step-by-Step Calculation

Tipo Sync calculates the maximum number of kits possible for each component:

Component

Calculation (Stock divided by Requirement)

Result (Max Kits)

Analysis

Cocktail Glasses

120 units of stock / 2 units required =

60

We have enough glasses for 60 kits.

Imported Specialty Syrup

100 units of stock / 3 units required =

33

This is the lowest number (100 / 3 = 33.33, rounded down).

Final Result: Inventory is set to 33

The Imported Specialty Syrup is the Limiting Factor. You only have enough syrup bottles to build 33 complete kits.

  • The inventory for the Premium Home Cocktail Kit (KIT-C-001) will be set to 33 on your storefront.

  • The system ignores the fact that you have enough glasses for 60 kits because you would run out of the syrup after 33 sales. Tipo Sync automatically prevents you from overselling.

How to set up Bundle Group

1. Identify the Master Product

You first select the product that will be sold on your storefront (the bundle itself).

  • Master Product: Premium Home Cocktail Kit (KIT-C-001)

2. Define the Component Recipe (Manual Setup)

For each component needed to build one complete kit, you manually select the component product and then set the required quantity.
